BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
We feel that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most important component in the fighting arts and should be integrated into all martial art systems. We want to help enlighten others who have not yet experienced the amazing art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
SELF-DEFENSE
We believe that Self-defense should always be the primary objective in any martial art program. Training for competition should be secondary.
TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS VS REGULAR PEOPLE
Our mission is to provide a Martial Arts Facility for everyone, not just for competitive athletes. We want everyone to know that not only do we produce tournament champions; we also teach martial arts to regular everyday people. Men, women and children.
GET THE KIDS OFF THE STREETS!
We want to give more children an alternative to the street life by getting more of them involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Studies show that children doing well in martial arts are almost always doing well in school too.
LEARN FASTER
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is evolving so fast that what is considered “cutting edge” today may very well be classified as “old school” by next year. To ensure that we are always on top of the ever-changing Jiu Jitsu game, our instructors are required to attend several seminars per year from some of the greatest Jiu Jitsu players in the world, including the likes of Royler Gracie, Rolker Gracie, Marcello Garcia, Fredson Alves, and Regis Lebre, to name just a few. Our Competition Team members compete in local, regional, national, and global tournaments several times per year.
COMPETITION TEAM TRAININGIn addition to training at Southside, members of our competition team also travel to Philadelphia on a regular basis to train at the "Gracie Humaita" academy in Philadelphia, PA. It's this type dedication and hard work that separates our associations from other schools. Training at the "Gracie Humaita Philiadelphia" academy on a regular basis like this keeps our tournament game very sharp and gives us a distinct edge when competing.
